ABOUT

Michael was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and moved to Ottawa, Ontario at the age of 16. He later studied fine art at Algonquin College in Ottawa, graduating in 1977. Over the years he has worked as an illustrator, graphic designer and photographer but his passion has always been painting. Although living most of his adult life in Ottawa, Michael has always been drawn back to Nova Scotia being fascinated and inspired by its varied landscapes and rugged coast line. It has remained a favourite source of subject matter.

Michael has been a past member of the Ottawa Watercolour Society and participated in a number of juried exhibitions. He has also taught introductory and intermediate watercolour courses for the Adult and Continuing Education program offered by the Ottawa-Carlton District School Board.

Michael currently lives and works in Shad Bay on Nova Scotia's south shore surrounded by the sea and landscape that provides inspiration for much of his work.
